Volunteer Opportunities

The Poplar Bluff Library is an evolving and pivotal place in our community! It continues to touch people from all walks of life. We offer a variety of opportunities! For example, people with various needs have crossed this threshold to find computer services, classes, genealogy research, as well as a place to do homework. Others find books written by their favorite authors, reserve meetings for their various businesses, entertainment for their children and themselves, while some just want the serenity and beauty of browsing and sitting in a clean, relaxed, and quiet environment

PBMLD serves Poplar Bluff and surrounding communities including Butler, Dunklin, Ripley, Stoddard, and Wayne counties to provide widespread service.

VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE… As a volunteer you receive opportunities to learn skills such as book mending and new material processing. You are invited to assist with library events, and provide feedback and input on library programs. Volunteers contribute to staff morale, stretch library resources and provide the community with a greater level of excellent service. The staff and Library Board recognize you as an integral part of the library’s success story. You will become a very knowledgeable and efficient user of information; and will be one of the first in the “know” about library events and new materials.

VOLUNTEERS GIVE… Volunteers give their time to improve the appearance of the library collection and improve access to materials. A library volunteer will be working in an office environment with established guidelines. These are put in place to protect the volunteer and the library. At this time a limited number of hours are available.
