BOOKS ON CD
The library has nearly 700 audiobooks on CD. This collection focuses on the latest popular fiction by your favorite authors. These materials are great for that long trip to visit family or to shorten a busy workweek packed with travel. Check out up to four titles for a period of two weeks. Need the books longer than that? CHARLIE CLASSICS
Pick up a copy of the Charlie Classics reading list for your school in the library’s Young Adult department. While you are there, browse the Charlie Classics Mentor List. To see if a copy of the Charlie Classic you seek is available at the library, search for it in the library’s catalog.
CHILDREN'S AUDIO
The library has a solution for audio materials for children of all ages. These materials include audibooks on CD and cassette for teens, children and preschoolers, as well as classic audio Read Alongs. Stop those "Are we there yet?" travel questions dead in their tracks with an audiobook from the library.
COMICS AND GRAPHIC NOVELS
It’s a bird, its’a plane, no its SUPERHERO comics at the library. Enjoy Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Archie Bunker & Friends, and many more when you visit the Children’s comics and Young Adult comics at the library today.
CURRICULUM LIBRARY
The Curriculum collection has special activity books designed to meet the needs of teachers and homeschoolers.
eBOOKS
30,000+ library books are now available to view, listen, or download from the library website. These items check themselves in automatically. No overdue notices or fines on these items. All you need is an Internet connection
and a library card.

GENEALOGY
The library’s Local History and Genealogy collection holds approximately 1,500 titles emphasizing local history, family history, and indexes to local resources. Visit the library's Genealogy page.
"I HAVE A FRIEND"
The “I HAVE A FRIEND” children’s video collection features quality children’s literature from the Weston Woods Company. Many of these DVDs have received numerous national awards from Parents Choice, Caldecott, and The National Childrens Books Committee.
Almost 100 titles are featured in the collection, which connects the book to a matching movie and internet site. This collection can be searched in the online library catalog. Look for the new “I Have a Friend” sign in the Children’s Library and browse the books and DVDs.
MAGAZINES
Nearly 105 different magazines ranging from antique trading to fashion to quilting to zoology are available for browsing at the library. Magazines check out for one week.
Do you have a homework assignment due and no time to drop by the library for that much needed magazine article? Then trying searching the library’s e-magazine collection. You can search this collection by keyword and even limit it to a specific date range. To access these magazines from home, simple click on the title of interest and enter your 14 digit library card number when prompted.

In addition, the library maintains the local newspapers on microfilm dating back to as early as 1878. This collection is not consecutive, particularly in the earliest editions.

PARENTING SHELF
The Parenting Shelf has nearly 300 items available for check out that are of particular interest to parents. Topics include: toilet training, homeschooling, after-school activities, welcoming a new sibling, nutrition, parental outlook and visions, standardized testing and more.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY
Add YOUR history to the collection: The library is now gathering pictures and type written documentation to add to a new database, “THIS DAY IN HISTORY.” Poplar Bluff has a rich history and much of it is still stored in family scrapbooks, Bibles, and photo albums. Contact the library to add genealogy or local history files to this database. The information must be digitized and provided to the library on CD or flash drive. Format and copyright restrictions apply. New files will follow the materials collection development guidelines of the library.
VIDEOS
The library has added more than 1000 Videos to the collection in the last six months. They’re literally shelved everywhere in the library. New biographies, travel, history, crafts and health videos are available for check out. Don’t forget to visit the Movie collection located near the new download station. The NEON PINK LABELS make locating the DVDs easy.
